[hand-written / off network; this poem has been deemed a failure, crumpled up and thrown in the garbage]

Clawing at our cages cage?
We rattle the locks

We claw at the cage

Rattling our locks
We claw at the cage
Railing against control
Lashing out We cry out in rage
That which The City

Rattling our locks
As we claw at the cage
We rail and we cry
All the while on stage

Eyes yet unknown witness
Our lives in this place
Beyond the Deities
Do they Here and gone without trace

I can't work with rhymes at all

[Voice Post]

It was a little odd having people know so much about me, but... that wasn't such a bad curse. Aside from how crowded it was, of course.

And... I hope some of you got a chance to see people you wanted to, even if it was just a day.

[Filtered to Deities / Unhackable]

Excuse me? I'm... I'm sorry to bother you again, I just... I've been thinking about the deal, for Neil's life? I think... I might want to do it.

Someone bothered you? Oh, dear, what happened? I've heard that some the visitors aren't as polite as others, but I've never met any particularly rude ones myself.

Oh, we had such fun! And it's okay, really--that I'm here, that is. We talked about it, and it's okay, and he hadn't even noticed I was gone! I know that sounds rather bad, as if to say that they didn't care that I was gone, but from what Daddy said, he remembered me being at home with them, too! So that's good, and I'm glad that he and Mother and Alexander haven't all been at home missing me all this time.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Looked like you...? His name didn't happen to be Vince, did it?

It would be, especially just after Alexander had come back home--one of us comes back and the other leaves, wouldn't that be just awful? But...it seems that time doesn't pass there, after all, and that's quite a relief for a number of reasons. And as much as I do want to go home, I'd miss all of you terribly if I did, too.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I met him. And I think I can imagine how he ended up bothering you, too. I had to give him a stern talking-to, myself. But he seemed quite considerate, afterward, so I didn't think much of it, really.

I'm sure I will, someday, when the time is right. Still...we might as well make the best of whatever situation we're in, hm? And there are a lot of good things about the City, too, so...that's all right, too. And I like being here, and having the opportunity to be friends with all of you.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's a ridiculous reason to be impolite to someone else. I'm sure it must be quite unsettling to meet someone that looks exactly like you, but that's still no reason to forget manners.

I suppose it's because it's hard to really accept that time isn't moving there, when it is here. And if someone was in the middle of something very important when they left, and now all this time they have to sit here thinking about it and feeling guilty over leaving in the middle...I can see how that might bother someone.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
That's a nice way of putting it. But yes.

I think that's the best way to looking at it, even if it's not one that everyone can manage. And I also think it's good, in its own way, since--well, it certainly gives one plenty of time to prepare for whatever bad things may be waiting back home, doesn't it?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Well...Sam didn't forget me, even when he went home. So I think there's a good chance that you will be able to remember the City. And I hope I will, too... Sometimes I think that we were all brought here because we needed to learn something that we couldn't, back home. It'd give a nice purpose to all this, wouldn't it?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
That's wonderfully insightful, Todd. You really do have a way with words, you know! And I think you're exactly right, too.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but if I go around complimenting myself, I'll sound stuck-up and impolite! But in all seriousness, you do have a knack for phrasing things. And it's a good skill for a poet to have, too, so it's no wonder.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
You can! And when you do, I'm meant to blush and be modest and say that it's just optimism, really, and only sensible.

Oh, I'm sure there's something you've done that I haven't praised you for enough yet--if not this, then something else. Either way, you've certainly earned it.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Some people see it as a prison, I know, but...well, it's just, Mother and Daddy always told me the importance of looking on the bright side of things, and the last thing they'd want is for me to be miserable here. Or for anyone to be miserable, for that matter. So...oh, all right, I'll stop trying to be modest and just admit that I'm blushing.

Oh, stop that. Yes, you are.

[OOC: And Todd is going to be getting a phone call in a few minutes re: the Neil thing. She's a-figurin' you out, Todd. =( ]

Yes, but you deserve them!

[OOC: You are in sooooo much trouble, young man.]

Oh. Well, that's perfectly acceptable, then.

[OOC: After the initial WTF DID YOU DOOOOOO, she'll actually sympathize with him. She offered to die in exchange for her kingdom, after all.]
